Chicamocha National Park, Colombia

The Chicamocha National Park in Colombia is also known as Panachi.  It is one of Colombia's principal tourist attractions due to its spectacular landscape and the variety of outdoor activities that it offers: paragliding, spelunking, bushwalking, camping, fishing, kayaking, rafting, horse-back riding and mountain climbing.

It is 54 kilometers from Santander's largest and capital city Bucaramanga.

Colombia's Traditional Costumes and Music

Colombia's traditional costumes reflect a blend of the country's Amerindian, Spanish, Caribbean and African influences. The nation's music is even more of a mix. Colombia's Andean region is home to more than 100 indigenous groups whose native music, used in rituals for healing and magic, has influenced many of Colombia's traditional styles of music and dance.

The cumbia, for example, a style of music and dance that is widely heralded as a national tradition, originated as a courtship dance meant to mimic Colombia's Spanish colonizers.

Faces of Colombia

Three tourists were robbed by human statues in the historic center of Colombia’s tourist hotspot Cartagena as reported by one newspaper in 2017. The incident occurred as the women approached the human statues who were disguised as fishermen near a Botero sculpture in the historic center to request a photograph. Things got a little confusing at first as they tried to figure out who was going to take a selfie of who?

Medellin Colombia's Feast of Flowers

The feast of flowers takes place in Medellin in early August and lasts ten days. It offers visitors and residents over 140 cultural, traditional, and modern events to attend: a horse fair, an orchestra festival, the national trova festival (singers in duels of improvised verses), an old and classic cars parade, a dog walk, musical and cultural platforms, the festival of remembrance and folk songs, a contest of talented women, the chiva carnival (a chiva is the typical open-sided bus built on a truck chassis), and the national championship of noise on wheels.

The flower fair is one of the cultural episodes in Colombia with a high degree of reaffirmation of identity and an event that brings together thousands of visitors in search of flowers, enjoyment, music, and fun. It is the perfect selfie moment of opportunity.
